yet another quick post..
should i feel guilty that i almost completely forgot i have a blog? :s. so anyway, its the school holiday but as usual, yours truly still has to go to work.
this week was specially, extra, super-duper busier than the usual busy weeks. mycousin, who is a mere 3 months older than me, tied the knot.
congratulations to the newly weds, abang dedeq and fayirose…
may you life together be filled with happiness..
as usual, theres a lot of stories to post and as usual, i simply do not have the energy to think of a witty way to present them. so until then..
random, silly and dumb.
- lil sister bored, decided to text message lil brother with her out-of-country line with: “i’m stalking you”. little brother scampering for our mother few minutes later: “MOMMMY!!!”
- had lunch with them last friday. little sister was slurping her iced lime drink. got brain freeze barely a minute later. her explanation: “maybe my brain is that small..” *snort*
- kaer is going on a trip. his aunt said “siok ni. kaer dapat makan angin.” kaer, with a worried look, “tapi kaer inda mau makan angin. kaer mau makan makanann.” hehehehehehe.. kiiut..
uncles.
last saturday, i attended a doa selamat for a cousin who had just turned 5. (Happy Birthday, Areez!!
)and so, long after the event ended, me and my siblings started to hang out with three of our six uncles who are all barely 2 decades older than me.
ever since my parents divorced,my mother’s brothers put in more effort to know my siblings and i. its sad but at the same time, i’m glad that we are closer. particularly, to my youngest uncle, cuaji. he was 17 when i was born. he’s the cool uncle. hehehe.
anyway, i dunno how it happened but the conversation that turned nostalgic. we were doing the usual ‘teka-teki’ jokes. i realise that what we call lame, its incredibly funny to the ’slightly’ older generation. i find it cute the way my uncles laugh. especially uncle ‘nell, who has the tendency to laugh before telling.
i found out that night that uncles, my dear sweet uncles, weren’t always angelic.
there are 5 of them. and they were born at least a year apart, making them very close not only as siblings but also as friends. they are the typical brothers. cuaji told me how dulu-dulu mana ada jamban. kami ‘membuang’ (i’m paraphrasing here) di sungai. me: ‘eeeeee!! di blaking atu wah???’ *pointing to the murky pond behind my nene’s house*
before residing permanently where they are now, my grandparent used to live somewhere in gadong near a river. it hard for me to imagine living without air-conditioner, let alone indoor plumbing!! anyways, you know how nowadays, kids would ask their sibling to ‘dangankan’ ke toilet pasal takut? afraid of the unknown. back then, there was really something to be scared about. a freakin alligator!! (..or crocodile.. buaya ani apakan?) my uncles would always cry alligator/croc whenever they could. but there’s this one time, an amphibian really was in the vicinity. the lil brother tried to warn his big brother. the big one, who thought it was made, ignored the warning and continued with his business. the little brother ran for his life (he did give out the warning). next thing he knew, he heard a splash and saw the big brother running for his life, leaving the tiny one behind. hehehehehehe.
my uncles defense was that back then they didn’t have what we have to entertain them. so they had to make up all these different ways to amuse themselves. my cool uncle one time, bought a puppy back home. only to be greeted by the eldest sister shouting ‘HARAM!! HARAM!!’ kana samak tarus, on the spot.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
that night was just filled with happy memories from back when. my uncles reminising their younger years. they can be quite a bully!! especially with one another. my granmother even put her two cents in. she knows she her boys were difficult but oh my god. she loves them. her eyes sparkle recounting the time when my uncles were playing football and the ball accidently hit some passerby. i think she told each and everyone of them off for being ganas beforehand and warned them to be careful. so when the ball flew, all my uncles froze. nothing but their eyes moved.
‘bah, mistilah takut. kalau nene tau, inda jua lagi dapat main lagi tuu’
mwahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahaha.. and here i thought they were worried about the ‘victim’.
my uncles.. *shakes head* i have to admit, listening to their stories, they certainy are a creative bunch.
i am definately looking forward to the next family gathering..
today….
actuall had a busy day out today.. but first..
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO BRAT #1. my lil sister. she turned 20 yesterday.
who would’ve thunk it? that scrawny girl is 20!
may your life be blessed with everything you hoped for and more. amin.
then..
congratulations to an rnB, ONA, who got engaged today!
“selamat sudah..”
did you find out what that means?? i really do wish that kamu “sampai ke jinjang pelamin” and happy/sehat sampai kamu be-cucu and cicit. hehehehe.. *hugs*
today is the Royal Brunei Armend Forces’s anniversary. i.e.: HOLIDAAAAAAAAY!!! but it didn’t feel like one since i was out the whole time. *sigh* which is why i’m planning to stay in the whole day tomorrow, just watching dvds. n reading. in bed. with a lot of junk food. :p cant wait!!
fiz went back to UK this evening. i think since this is the 7th? 8th? year she’s going off we didn’t cry. at all. we’re ganno miss her desperately but thanks to technology (which i am still very kuno about, mind you) we can keep in touch more.
speaking of which, i’ve been spending more time with my ladies lately. its heartwarming to know that even after 5 years of graduation (7 for some of us) we still managed to meet up and still confide with each other eventhough we don’t see each other on a daily basis like we used to.
saja reflecting.. i know my post have been boring lately, but ntah… can’t seem to think of anything interesting to post AAAAAAAND if i do, there’d be no time to do it..
o well. lap y’all…
Umi’s day
today is the day that the reason for my being (literally) was born.
my mother was born 50 years ago today. may ALLAH bless you in everything you do.
the brats and and i celebrated it with umi, paul and B. at charcoal. as it is extremely late, i will give more detais soon.
taaaa~
updated:
ok, i’ve been trying to upload photos of the birthday lunch for 2 hours now and still inda mau.
$#$@%!@#!@#!$!#$
*sigh* oh well.. at least those who mattered knew we had a satisfying day..
with family.
i’m home!!! hehehe.. i guess i should’ve gave a hint or something, huh? i’ve been away for the past few days. i only told a handful of people. pasalnyakan, everytime i get excited about something,it didn’t panned out the way i thought it would. hence the ’secrecy’.
so here it is: SINGAPORE!!!! i went there with eyan, my two cousins (kaka long and dedeq) & dedeq’s girlfriend. we kinda planned this trip since december. but again, i didnt really wanna think much about it. hehehehe…
24th march:
-
woke up around 5.00 am at the request of abang along (kaka long’s husband). we wanted to check in as early as possible because from experience, it was better that way. kami bertolak dari rumah around 6.15 am. our flight was at 8.00am. after everything was secured (checked in the cargo and all.) we had breakfast at the airport restaurant. ayah came by to see us off also.
btw, me and eyan shared a suitcase. in it was a few clothes to last the 3 day trip and 3 other bags. didnt want to waste our money buying extra bags. smart, no? :p -
arrived safely at changi airport around 9.50am. rather than pick up our cargo, we kinda shopped around dulu. hahaha. that is why when we finally came around to pick it up, at was waiting on the side of the conveyer belt.
which was an hour after we had landed. -
after that, abang long and kaka siti picked us up in their spankin’ brand new car.
we had to bali minyak before checking in. when i heard the total amount for a tank full of gas in singapore, i flipped. seriously. I.FREAKED. OUT. $100.33????? for a tankful?? mine cost $25!! DAY-UM!! sure, my tank is proly smaller but still!
the car that drove us around. a bit annoying, tho. abang long bought a gps map that kept going “in 300 meters, turn left.” every 5 secs. @$@%@#!#$@#@ -
we then checked in at our hotel. we stayed at Grand Central Hotel along orchard road. we pretty much just checked in, dumped our bags, freshen up (i.e.: peed) and went out again.
around noon, abang long and ka siti, took us to vivo city. we had lunch at Chicken Rice Store. apparently, its from malaysia. we flew all the way to Sinagpore to eat Malaysian food. hahahahha. after lunch, we kinda spread out. dedeq went with his girlfriend while me, eyan and kalong went in the other direction. i forgot what happened to abang long and kaka siti. :p luan iski kan shopping.. hehehe. we gave up more than 5 hours later. maaaaan, my feet hurts from all that walking. but i gotta say, it was worth it.
eyan and kaka long resting.
the $50++ jellybeans kakalong bought. -
before dinner, we went to Queens way shopping centre. *secret smile* then stopped by at Ikea’s. this was around 8.02 pm. by this time i felt like my back was gonna break into 2. payah wah org tunggi ani. i jokingly asked abg long to carry me. hahaha. mau ya jua. tempted, tho. :p lestuuuuuuuu, we had dinner at bilal’s. NYAMAN!! to tell you the truth, i was abit skeptic when my cousins said the food there was great but in the end, yeaaa.. i was hooked. the best crabs are sold there.
while waiting for the food..
oatmeal prawns.. *slurps*
-
you would think after a hearty meal, we’d be too tired, right? wrong!! hahaha. we made a last pit stop at mustafa centre. the stuff you want at its lowest price are sold there. went back to hotel around 12am. ehehe. cute story, kakalong didnt come along with us to mustafa, she had a tummy ache (too much jellybeans, i say. hehehe.) it was fairose’s birthday(dedeq’s gf) on 25th. so by the time we got back kakalong was already sleeping and when dedeq surprised her with a cake, we had to whisper happy birthday.
kiut…
25th march:
-
set my alarm for 7am sal i wanted to be the first one to use the bathroom. but as usual, i stalled and fairose got it first. hahaha. turns out i wasn’t the only one. dedeq took his time too. he’s worst than dd!! we finally left for breakfast at 9.30am.
had breakfast at McD’s.
nyaman pancakes nya!! how come we don’t have these in Brunei??
-
from there we went to suntec city. we had the cutest ‘uncle’ for a taxi driver.
he told us that tower 1 is usually for exhibitions only while tower 2 (where we were heading) has the greatest shopping outlets. so friendly, that uncle. -
we met up with abang long and ka siti aroun 3++pm who then brought us to marina square. shopping some more.
-
7.00pm - break. went to hotel freshen up. 7.45pm – far east plaza. yet again, more shoppping. aroun 10pm - dinner. the food there is great, i tell youuuuu.. abg long and ka ct had to ciao after dinner sal abg had to go to work at …1am? (abg long’s a pilot).
-
ooooh!! i almost forgot! congrats to abg long and ka siti, who are expecting their first child!!
(out of respect for the elders, i decided to pull down the baby photos..
)
ok. i stopped jotting down things i did after this day. i got caught up with all the pretty shiny things.
however, to tell you the truth, the things i bought are mostly books. even kaka siti said: “bookworm lah die nie..” or something like that. hahaha. i think thats all for now. will update soon.
but before that, thank you to abg long and kaka siti for showing us around.
btw, its good to be home.
a princess’s birthday
it was one year ago when you made your first appearence in the world (14/3). i witnessed your first poop. it was not a pretty sight. then i took this photo: ![]()
i seriously thought that you had your father’s sepet eyes. but you proved me wrong. hehehe. it got rounder and rounder.
you turned out to be a very girly girl. you love everythink pink and flowery.hehe. ure so cute and cuddly. oh, and you are very much attached to your mother and very manja with your dad. you also know how to make your really cute in front of the camera. ![]()
its your birthday, Darwisya Leong. may Allah bless you and may you have a long and happy life ahead.
weekends.
last weekend has been one very tiring and busy. the very opposite if what the weekend before had been.
2 weekends ago:
-
woke up late. (noon-ish..?)
-
stayed in bed eventhough i was already awake.
-
went out to get my photos from mizi. (3pm)
-
decided to go to fundonuts. it has been receiving rave reviews. so i decided to check it out. me and eyan (lil sis) arrived around 3.45pm. and there was a line! a freakin long one!! at a freakin doughnut shop!! i was about to walk away when eyan said “what else do we have to do today?” …point taken. so we decided to stay in line and bitch about the service at the same time. everything was finally done and paid for about 2 hours later. yes, TWO hours. AAAANNDDD we bought $26 worth of doughnuts. after that long wait, you can bet your @$$ we’re gonna make it worth our money and time.
anyway, we bought 2 boxes of these:
nyaman usulnya kan??? oh, and apparently, there was some drama going on. i was, apparently, oblivious to the whole thing. well, i caught snippets of it at the end but thats pretty much it. (man, i am in my own world..). so anyway, there’s this lady in front of eyan and me. all she sed was “aku mau 3 kutak.” (“i want 3 boxes”). the person in charge was a bit slow and maybe blank. then again, it was kinda hectic. but in her defense, there are two types of boxes (6’s & 12’s). and just because of that, lady customer called her “babal.” (“idiot”.) pms, much? sheesh.. dont you know, you’re ordering food from her ?? she could spit in ‘em lady!! and as it turns out, she was waiting for one more doughnut but rather than giving it to lady customer, she gave it to us.. MWAHAHAHAHAHA.. oh, when she was finally done, she tired to walk out in a huff, all pissed off but she was called back sal she still owed then about $5. d’oh! *slaps forehead* (yan, good game.. good game..
)
-
then relaxed the rest of the day..
last weekend:
-
woke up around 8am. (mother wanted us to be early for the 11am second cousin’s wedding reception)
-
10.30am: finally on the way to the mall. wedding reception was held @ Rizqun. (which explains the slightly less grumblings)
-
before going up to the ballroom, i had to help a dear uncle find parking space in the basement area. it was hilarious in a knocks-head-against-wall kinda way. i mean, i was trying to help him find the easiest (and nearest) space but ia mcm main tabak saja. hehehe.
-
i actually had fun until my uncles decided to bully on me. and my ‘gitau nene karang!’ attempt fell on deaf ears.
-
went home about 2pm. thot had time to freshen’ up but Surya (my bride friend for the next 2 weeks) requested us to come earlier. so dropped my mom and eyan off, then tarus pick up Bo.
-
stayed at Sur’s until 6.30pm. spent most of the time daydreaming of MY wedding.. :p
we somehow showed up with the same colour theme. hehehe.
Sur getting ready
me with the bride to be
then went home, picked up eyan and drove her straight to the airport. paul’s came home from KL yesterday. but his flight was kinda delayed so i stayed until ….8.30pm?
-
finally around 10pm, i was home, clean and snoring
so yeaaa.. very tired.. oh, n this week pun mcm banyak events to go to.. the rest of Sur’s wedding ceremony.. my frineds are getting married lerrr… :s honestly, i’m 50-50 when it comes to marriage. i am at the stage where i can’t wait to build my life with B but also at the stage where i wanna enjoy my independence.. hmmmm.. alum jua ku beduit kan kawin wah… hheehehe. iski banar.. :p
neways, taiyod. taaaaaaa~
Happy Birthday, lil brother..
i am posting thing after 12am here, so it is officially your 16th birthday.
you are finally there, semi-mature.
you are definately, hands down, the most annoying little brother a girl could ask for. (kan yan?) you seem to always, ALWAYS, demand attention when i either have none to give you OR when its just not the time. you have no idea how annoyed i was when we were kids. umi would make me babysit you because she’s always busy with the housework. since i was the eldest, it was my resposibility. at the age of 10, i grew to loathe sesame street. however, you did get me addicted to power rangers. (in my defence, the white ranger was hot.) hahaha.
but now, i am so grateful that eventhough you are still annoying (more now in your own special way), you are also smart and share a slightly lamer with a hint of witty/sarcastic sense of humor with me. :p you finally understand that if i say “not now, di.”, it means not now.
you would’ve thunk it? the annoying little brat (#2) is now a teenager. good luck going through it. haha. then again, you know that no matter how many times i slam my door in your face, it will be open a few minutes later just for you.
i love you, brat. May ALLAH bless you in everything you do.
xoxo, kawa.
first day of a new year.
a few days ago, me & eyan saw this movie playing at the Hallmark channel. the movie is called snow white. i guess we were in a nostalgic mood sal we decided to watch it.
so anyway, we went to another wedding reception today. we were fanning ourselves, trying not to complain about the heat (i was failing) when eyan just suddenly said : “i just realised. i have a stepmother.” *snort* i was just about to give her the ’duh’ speech when she cut me off and continued: “no, wait. i have a stepmother. just like snow white. no, no, i AM snow white.”
hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahaha.. talur anak atu. so on the way home, she kept marvelling at the fact that we have a stepmother. sure, she knew the wife existed but she never really made the connection. she kept muttering ” i’m snow white. i’m snow white.” that kid is disturbed.
she even added “& you’re cinderella!!” hahaha.. ngok.
anyways, some pictures
photo of DD before eyan came along
after eyan came along “mister potatooooo”
i’m such a nerd..
after the cleansing of the room. hehehe.
that’s all folks!
