i wanna be a princess..

January 8, 2008 at 9:58 am (kids, memory lane, things to ponder)

ok. it has become too big of an issue for to me to ignore. :) a lot of people have left comments. me and atul even had a lenghty conversation about it!! so, people, tell me this:

which disney princess are you?

disneys-princesses.jpg

so let’s do this properly.. :D   there are the main eight princess: Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas and Mulan. However, in 2007, Disney announced a new princess will be added:Princess Tiana from thier 2009 animated feature The Princess and the Frog, will become the first African American princess to join the ranks if Disney’s Princesses. (i didn’t know that until i wiki-ed Disney’s Princesses. hehehe.) which also means Alice from Alice in Wonderland is not a princess. which begs the question: ‘what is she then? just a mere Disney character?’ (sorry, toots. didn’t know.)

so here it is. a summary of the Princesses (which i got from their official website: here :p)

Snow White :

snow-white-disney.jpg

a beautiful young Princess who, in her efforts to escape the Evil Queen, befriends the seven drawfs. Her gentle ways and trust allows the Evil Queen to trick her. But her pure, lovable nature also wins her the friendship of the forest animals, the Seven Drawfs and -of course-  the handsome prince.  *snort* she is SOO the opposite of eyan! lovable nature? gentle ways?  mwahahahahaha.. eyan is independant and strong. she doesn’t need the dwarfs.. but i can imagine her ordering the ‘dwarfs’ (dd and kaer) around. oh, and question. does the Evil Queen even have a name?? i mean, don’t you think its cruel for disney to label the stepmom as just ‘Evil Queen’? hehehehe.. although, granted, some people deserves it..

Cinderella:

disney-cinderella.jpg

although gentle and soft spoken, Cinderella has a keen, intelligent sense of  humor, which she widely keeps hidden from her cruel Stepmother and jealous Stepsisters. Finding delight in her tiny animals friends, able to sing as she works, Cinderella had true dignity. Despite moments of heartbreak and disappointment, Cinderella holds onto her hopes until goodness and beauty are rewarded and dreams that she dreamed do come true. …….ok. :ugh: that is just waay to sweet for my cynical soul. i mean, don’t get me wrong. i’m all for happiness and ‘dreams do come true’ but come onn.. then again, it is disney. :D hehehe..

Aurora:

disney-aurora.jpg

raised under the protective eyes of the fairies, Flora, Fauna and Merryweather. Aurora is a gentle, loving and thoughtful girl. But when she has a chance meeting with Prince Phillip in the woods, her desire for romance causes her to ignore the fairies’ warning about strangers. soon after, she learns the truth about her birth and her life turns into turmoil. By the time Sleeping Beauty is awakened from her slumber by her prince, she has been transformed from a sheltered girl into a mature young woman ready to become a bride. i didn’t know that about Aurora. i remember reading the story book when i was a kid and still living in a flat. i wasn’t impressed. hehehe. i suppose i can relate to her. anything for romance. :p but, is it just me, or is the last sentence a bit disturbing? :s

Ariel:

disney-ariel.jpg

Headstrong Ariel means to follow the rules, but rarely suceeds. like many teenagers, Ariels does not feel ‘understood’ and is forever trying to make her friends, especially her father, see things her way. Feisty Ariel has a mind of her own, and it’s full with romantic dreams about the world above the sea and its inhabitants. she a bit naive and sure that the human world is a happy place. ok, as a kid, Ariel was the princess that i really relate to. wanting to adventurous (i never was, but the want was there. :p ) and explore. and the fact that Prince Eric was hot kinda helped. hehehe..

Belle:

disney-belle.jpg

Belle is as lovely as her name implies, but her natural unaffected beauty is far more than skin deep.An intelligent avid reader, Belle yearns for faraway places and exciting adventures. She’s a loyal, loving daughter and when the beast finally wins her trust, she gives him all her kindness and patience, and then realizes she also has given him her heart. ….again, gag. hehehe.. btw, toots, she does remind me of u. hahaha.. you have the same quality. maybe you SHOULD be Belle. :p

Jasmine:

jasmine.jpg

An exotic, fiery beauty, Jasmine doesn’t want much -  just to marry for love and to experience life outside the palace. A strong independant young woman, she’s ready for some adventure and is quite capable of taking matters into her own hands, rejecting unsuitable suitors and sneaking off into the market place alone. She is my favourite princess!! God, how i used to watch her over and over again!! she is exactly who i wanted to be. a princess who has everything she wants and gets those that she couldn’t easily have. she had the courage that i was lacking then. :D

Pocahontas:

disney-pocahontas.jpg

The beautiful daughter of Chief Powhatan is a playful freespirited young woman who knows every tree, waterfall and wild creature in her forest home. With a name that means ‘Little Mischief’, Pocahontas love adventure and excitement. her curiosity and independence make her a strong girl whose passionate spirit touches and changes all who know her.  to me, she’s just an average princess. mcm, ‘eh.’ and thats it. i wasn’t too excited about it when it came out.

Mulan:

disney-mulan.jpg

Although Mulan is as lovely as a blossom, she can’t seem to behave like the gentle daughter she is supposed to be. In fact, she is quite the tomboy, whose spirits lead her into situations that defy the trditions of her society. She loves her family, but her behaviour risks bringing dishonour to her family. lesseeee.. hmmm.. i dunno. she doesn’t remind me of anyone i know. so.. yea.. who wants to be mulan? hehe.. :)

ok. i tried to be as brief as possible. fyi, this post took me longer than i thought. i actually spent time to do some research. :p hehehe. i realised Aurora is not as blah as i thought she was. and that i see myself in both ariel and jasmine. *prasan* oh! oh! and there’s wedding dresses designed by Disney! dreams do come true~

so tell me people, which one of these princesses resembles you the most? and which one of them do you want to be?

an uneventful day

December 17, 2007 at 2:12 pm (family, kids, taiyod!)

i just realised today that in a deadly boring circumstance, your siblings can ease your pain by being the source of entertainment. umi drove her three barely awake and a tad pissed off children to the dentist today. i slept around 3am and was woken up approximately 4 hours later. so tell me, would you not be just a ‘tad’ pissed off if your mother did that to you? hmph. so yea, there we were, disgruntled, trying not to be brats (my mother raised us better then that :p ) when we suddenly had a burst of energy and everything was funny. ok, i may have exaggrated on the ’sudden’ part. it was an hour and a half later. it all started when the guy in front of us turned out to be the most annoying guy in the whole wide world. like his propose in life was to annoy us, me especially. ugh. dont you just hate that?? you’re moody and somehow, the bongok-est person IN THE WHOLE WORLD decided to sit in front of you. :look of death: i muttered something which made eyan laughed and next thing we knew, we were all giggly. i mean, when i think back inda plang cali banar; it wasnt that funny, but  we were laughing our heads off. hehehe. oh, and eyan commented that most of the kids today wear grown up clothes. which i agree. tadi ada this 4 year old girl who was wearing the kind of skirt i  would wear. *shrug* oh, and didi had to go to the baby doctor since he was 15 years old. hehehehe.

next big story of the day, we decided to bawa kaer watch the chipmunk movie. his first movie. i can imagine him laughing, shrieking over how cute the cartoons are, a picture of a happy child. :)

what a bust that turned out to be. *sniff*

the entire time,i kept looking over to him with an expectant look only to be met with a look of boredom. *rolling eyes* AAAAAND he fell asleep before the movie ended!! FELL ASLEEP!! sigh… paidah.

when we arrived home, we saw dedeq. and eyan’s drumming kit. hehehehe. that girl was estatic. kept pajal-ing to go home so they could assemble it. iski banar.. i think they managed to do it in less than half hour. :D

drumming-kit.jpg them bertungkus lumus setting up the drums. hehe. :)

drumeyan.jpg eyan, frantically usai-ing the wires.

hehe. unfortunately, they couldn’t play it yet as they did not have the headphones which are, appparently, essential. :p hahahahahahahhaha. kesian, iski dah sorang2.

now, its 10.07 pm. think i’m gonna finish my dark and white chocolate covered almonds then procceed to watch grey’s anatomy. :) taaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa~

huh.

October 5, 2007 at 6:33 pm (bored~, kids)

i think…… not doing anything in my life right now, is not good for my brain. its turning me (for a lack of a better word) a bimbo. friends of mine, please refrain from commenting on this. :p~

I. AM. BORED.

mizi says that i should do something. stimulate my brain. well, in order to that i need to at least be active physically. so i went jogging yesterday. yes, i know its fasting month & nooo, i’m not trying to kill myself. which is why i only jogged for two rounds. it kinda helped but.. ntah ah… eeeh~ *shrug*

anyway, i’ve decided to read. come to think of it, its been a while since i read anything. :s huh. but somehow, i just don’t feel like reading any of my books. B calls them porn books. i say romantic novels. but each his own, i guess.. :) actually, i’ve been meaning to read Jane Green’s latest book : Second Chance. ada plang dah bejual di Brunei but haven’t got the chance to buy ‘em yet.

jane.jpg the book is apparently a bestseller..

anywho, tadi i went down to help my cousin baking some biscuits for raya. alright, i admit, i did not help willingly but i still helped. :) hehe. while i was there, mamawa was cutting some oranges for Kaer. kinda like a snack for the lil guy. she gave me a piece and OH. MY.GOD. they’re so freakin sour!! so, being the evil person i can be sometimes  i decided i would enjoy watching the kid’s face as he eats the oranges. mwahahahahahahahaha..

unfortunately, it backfired. so there i was, sneaking around the door, when mamawa gave the oranges to Kaer, anticipating. the kid just eats it like it was nothing! he even turns to look at me and say “mawa!” *flashes cute look* … maybe his treshold for sour things is higher than mine. huh.

sigh. i need to get a job soon…

kids today..

July 12, 2007 at 2:25 pm (kids, things to ponder)

Did another spell of reliefing today. Ka na (my cousin who’s a teacher there) scared me with “bwoh! class gauk lagi tu!” when i told her. Yea. That didn’t help.

So, anyway, there i was, trying to calm the nerves. i had just instructed a kid “yang bulih diharapkan” (quoting Ka na) to get some papers from the office for their art lesson when sudddenly groups of kids surrounded my table. I tried to act calm and nonchalant. I was actually alarmed; Children of the Corn was replaying in my head. Then came the classic question: ” Cigu, sekolah ani behantu kah?”

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *sigh*

I’m not saying that i don”t believe in ghosts. Its just that theres nothing like a haunted school to make you more interested in your school. :p One by one, the children cited their side of the story as to why they believed it and claims of its authenticity. Most of the girls, with a couple of boys thrown in, told their version on how the school became hanuted. One claimed the school used to be a hospital, something i knew was fiction sal i existed when it was first built. The school was not as old as they thought. (lets not go into that. sad ku memikirkan.)The building was built to be a school and it still is.

Another popular theory was the fact that the grounds used to a forest. “Patut tah behantu..” said a kid, when comfirmed her speculation. Bimbo moment: I seriously considered the theory and wondered if i could be true. Then it hit me, what place in Brunei didn’t used to be a forest?? i tell youuuuuu, my idiocy knows no bounds. :)

Oh, did i mention that they were noisy because they were drawing up a plan on how to explore the school and investigate. I wear to God, they even said “aku bawa Quran, ko bawa tasbih.” Iwas torn between laughing out loud and ber-Asthaghafar. They are so innocent and naive. Bear in mind,i was once like them

(note: before i go into this story, a lil intro: remember when you were a kid, there was always this one kid of the opposite sex who you just hate? you always fight with ‘em, always argue but then there are always occasions when they surprised you by being sweet and basically out-of-character. and when you think that you just might get along, they turn back into the mini-devil that we hate. Well, B (yes, my boyfriend) was, and still is sometimes, my mini-devil. :D )

We went to a private school where it had a home-y feel to it. it was small and divided into two blocks: one made of bricks, other of wood. behind the wooden block was this tiny hut. i don’ t really remember what it was really for but back then, me and my friends were convinced that it was haunted and it had the ability to possesed whomever touched it. so like the ‘brave’ kids today, we decided to investigate. no one dared to touch the hut. i think B, out of sheer annoyance, marched up to it and touched it. he was exasperated at our gullibility. it was then the scruffy brat decided to shake his whole body, moaning and acted all… possesed. i screamed. no way in hell was i going to find out what really happened. i wasn’t the only one. it was like every kid for him/herself. as it turned out, the Ngok made it up. he proved (rather successfully) that we are easily fooled. idiot. hahaha. macam still bitter kan?

i miss that. being innocent. being protected. believing that everything can be solved easily and there is no such thing as THAT bad. but one’s gotta learn, right? :) then again, maybe this that kind of thing that we need to overcome cynicism.

hehehe.. whatever.. i was amused today.. ;)
