kisses and cake

April 7, 2008 at 1:38 pm (:D, frens, rnB)

i did it. i finally did it. i mentioned a while ago about a certain movie that i was cautiously excited to see. i LOVE the book (can’t stress enough on how much i love the book), explaining the excited part but as commonly known, book-turn-films movies rarely work out. hence, the cautious part. i didn’t want to ruin the book by watching the movie. but yesterday, i finally did it.

p/s: i love you has been playing for …a couple of weeks? and somehow, i had already made up my mind to not watch the movie. eventhough Gerard Butler was in it. *drool* however, after the rnB breakfast at Dynasty, gdg, me and War had nothing to do. (we had already walked around the mall.) we decided to watch Horton’s but we missed the show. and somehow, just for the heck of it. we decided to go to Empire Cinema. Ps: i love you was playing in an hour. so,to pass time, we decided to play guitar hero. for visual evidence, check out war’s blog. :D i sucked btw..

so, while waiting for the movie to start, me and war had this sinking feeling that the movie was gonna suck big time. i just knew  it was gonna be bad.

i was wrong.

i mentioned that while reading the book,i had to put the book down to control myself. i literally sobbed. during the movies, i cried my eyes out. the 3 pieces of tissue paper that i brought, were soaked and reduced to bundled up tears and snot. the fact that i kinda forgot most of the story line helped. i couldn’t really compare but i do know that there are a lot of differences which i think worked in the movie. like, in the book, Holly is Irish but in the movie, she’s American. so there’s this whole new part on how Holly and Gerry met. it was so.. *sappy sigh* sweet & touching & how you’d imagine you would meet your true love. *sappy-er sigh*

its more of a couples’ movie rather than a chick flick. the intimate moments that Holly and Gerry had definately made made you appreciate your partner. i know that if i were watching it with B, i’d be hugging him the whole time. (oh, note: not exactly for kids below the age of 12)

overall, i think the movie was great if not brilliant. i truly felt the love and sadness. :( “you are my entire story but i am just a chapter in your life..”

ho-kaaay, getting waay too sentimental for my taste. conclusion, i LOVE, LOVE, LOOOOVE  it. its been awhile since i cried that hard that had nothing to do with my issues. :D it felt good. again, for physical proof, go to war’s blog. go watch it, people. i think its worth it.

p/s: Gerard Butlet was sexy on a whole another level.

a new beginning

April 3, 2008 at 1:58 pm (announcements, teachin')

ok, so, it has been a very hectic past few days. i knew i had my work cut out for me as soon as the school holidays were over. i was suppose to prepare questions for the upcoming test my students are going to go through one week after coming back. i was supposed to revise with them AND i had an induction to go to on the very day we came back. yes, i was going to be suoer busy but i was all “BRING IT ON!! \m/ YEA!!”

….i went too far..

so anyway, on the first day back, i had prepared the question papers, collected from the others, got it approved and made sure it on its way to the printing room. i also revised with all on my classes that day AND prepared lessons for the next two weeks. (impressed?) but then.. in the afternoon during the induction, i went through my first WTF?? shock of the year. the induction was all about our posting. it is official. we are no longer unemployed/ just a releif teacher. we are now Education Officers. eseh… i feel proud saying that..

stranger: “are you a teacher?”

me: “no. i’m an education officer.” *puffs out chest* belabih..

there were 3 speakers and it was the 2nd speaker who provided the WTF?? moment: we were starting the very next day. for once, the neurons worked! faster even! sal i woked up as soon as i heard. “..??? esuk?? tomorrow??” fortunately, since i have been teaching for the past couple o months, i wasn’t as nervous. however, it was the fact that i was posted to the polar opposite (in every imaginable way) that got me all “INDA!! NO!! u can’t make me!!” *guling2 di lantai*

oh, man. the first day i reported fot duty on my new school, i was downright scared. i acted like i just knew i was going to be mugged, holding my bag against my chest. (Bruneians shopping overseas, you know what i mean.. :) )but by teh end of the second day, i felt myself relax. the fact that i didn’t have anything to do and spent almost the entire time in the air-conditioned staffroom helped. :D i even finished reading Sophie Kinsella’s remember me? (note: never do anything that has the potential to make you cry in front of strangers your new collegues on the second day. they might think you’re a weirdo/ an emo and its waay to early for them to know that)

ayah was helpful. being a very experienced teacher (he was a teacher even before i was born) he imparted some of his wisdom. :D he was a discipline teacher. i remember how most of the student body respected (feared? hehehe..) him yet the students he taught never feared him. in fact, they actually got along.. even until now his ex-students would tagur him after graduating for so long. he definately helped calmed down some nerves. :D

which brings us today, the third day. i’ve programmed myself to stop comparing and accept it all. the sooner i do, the sooner i can enjoy. with that in mind,  i was a bit iski. i finally have my own table. so i decided to make it more.. me. :p

image064ii.jpg soo.. what do ya think? :) today was a bit more productive. i usai-ed my table. i gathered some notes, observed a class and attended an adobe photoshop workshop, which will be added in to my 1oo hours.. (still murky on that one. care to explain someone?)

guess atu saja for now. till next time. :D

-fauz

ps: oh! oh! oh! NKOTB are back!! dunno why i’m this excited.. they’re more of kakalong’s generation.. :p (i love you, kalong..)

nkotb1.jpg then

nkotb__opt.jpg now. they got hot.. -er.. think that’s why.. hehehe.. bah. atu sja.. i’ve got some youtube-ing to do.

with family.

March 28, 2008 at 1:44 pm (:D, family, taiyod!)

i’m home!!! hehehe.. i guess i should’ve gave a hint or something, huh? i’ve been away for the past few days. i only told a handful of people. pasalnyakan, everytime i get excited about something,it didn’t panned out the way i thought it would. hence the ’secrecy’. :) so here it is: SINGAPORE!!!! i went there with eyan, my two cousins (kaka long and dedeq) & dedeq’s girlfriend. we kinda planned this trip since december. but again, i didnt really wanna think much about it. hehehehe…

24th march:

  • woke up around 5.00 am at the request of abang along (kaka long’s husband). we wanted to check in as early as possible because from experience, it was better that way. kami bertolak dari rumah around 6.15 am. our flight was at 8.00am. after everything was secured (checked in the cargo and all.) we had breakfast at the airport restaurant. ayah came by to see us off also. :) btw, me and eyan shared a suitcase. in it was a few clothes to last the 3 day trip and 3 other bags. didnt want to waste our money buying extra bags. smart, no? :p
  • arrived safely at changi airport around 9.50am. rather than pick up our cargo, we kinda shopped around dulu. hahaha. that is why when we finally came around to pick it up, at was waiting on the side of the conveyer belt. :D which was an hour after we had landed.
  • after that, abang long and kaka siti picked us up in their spankin’ brand new car. :D we had to bali minyak before checking in. when i heard the total amount for a tank full of gas in singapore, i flipped. seriously. I.FREAKED. OUT. $100.33????? for a tankful?? mine cost $25!! DAY-UM!! sure, my tank is proly smaller but still! image052.jpg the car that drove us around. a bit annoying, tho. abang long bought a gps map that kept going “in 300 meters, turn left.” every 5 secs. @$@%@#!#$@#@
  • we then checked in at our hotel. we stayed at Grand Central Hotel along orchard road. we pretty much just checked in, dumped our bags, freshen up (i.e.: peed) and went out again. around noon, abang long and ka siti, took us to vivo city. we had lunch at Chicken Rice Store. apparently, its from malaysia. we flew all the way to Sinagpore to eat Malaysian food. hahahahha. after lunch, we kinda spread out. dedeq went with his girlfriend while me, eyan and kalong went in the other direction. i forgot what happened to abang long and kaka siti. :p luan iski kan shopping.. hehehe. we gave up more than 5 hours later. maaaaan, my feet hurts from all that walking. but i gotta say, it was worth it. :D kalong-and-eyan.jpg eyan and kaka long resting. jellybeans.jpg the $50++ jellybeans kakalong bought.
  • before dinner, we went to Queens way shopping centre. *secret smile* then stopped by at Ikea’s. this was around 8.02 pm. by this time i felt like my back was gonna break into 2. payah wah org tunggi ani. i jokingly asked abg long to carry me. hahaha. mau ya jua. tempted, tho. :p lestuuuuuuuu, we had dinner at bilal’s. NYAMAN!! to tell you the truth, i was abit skeptic when my cousins said the food there was great but in the end, yeaaa.. i was hooked. the best crabs are sold there.

image041.jpg image039.jpg while waiting for the food..image043.jpg oatmeal prawns.. *slurps*

 image045.jpg image044.jpg more food. hehehehe

image046.jpg crab before image047.jpg crab after.

  • you would think after a hearty meal, we’d be too tired, right? wrong!! hahaha. we made a last pit stop at mustafa centre. the stuff you want at its lowest price are sold there. went back to hotel around 12am. ehehe. cute story, kakalong didnt come along with us to mustafa, she had a tummy ache (too much jellybeans, i say. hehehe.) it was fairose’s birthday(dedeq’s gf) on 25th. so by the time we got back kakalong was already sleeping and when dedeq surprised her with a cake, we had to whisper happy birthday. :) kiut…

25th march:

  • set my alarm for 7am sal i wanted to be the first one to use the bathroom. but as usual, i stalled and fairose got it first. hahaha. turns out i wasn’t the only one. dedeq took his time too. he’s worst than dd!! we finally left for breakfast at 9.30am.

image048.jpg image049.jpg had breakfast at McD’s. :D nyaman pancakes nya!! how come we don’t have these in Brunei??

  • from there we went to suntec city. we had the cutest ‘uncle’ for a taxi driver. :) he told us that tower 1 is usually for exhibitions only while tower 2 (where we were heading) has the greatest shopping outlets. so friendly, that uncle.
  • we met up with abang long and ka siti aroun 3++pm who then brought us to marina square. shopping some more.
  • 7.00pm -  break. went to hotel freshen up. 7.45pm - far east plaza. yet again, more shoppping. aroun 10pm -  dinner. the food there is great, i tell youuuuu.. abg long and ka ct had to ciao after dinner sal abg had to go to work at …1am? (abg long’s a pilot).
  • ooooh!! i almost forgot! congrats to abg long and ka siti, who are expecting their first child!! :D :D :D :D :D

(out of respect for the elders, i decided to pull down the baby photos.. :D

ok. i stopped jotting down things i did after this day. i got caught up with all the pretty shiny things. however, to tell you the truth, the things i bought are mostly books. even kaka siti said: “bookworm lah die nie..” or something like that. hahaha. i think thats all for now. will update soon.

but before that, thank you to abg long and kaka siti for showing us around. :)

image040.jpg *hugs*

btw, its good to be home. :D

bangas..

March 11, 2008 at 1:29 pm (announcements, celebrations, taiyod!, teachin')

that is how i feel about posting lately. it feels like everytime i wanna blog an event, it turned out it happened weeks ago where most, if not all (hey, brunei IS small) people knew about it already. my posts are not only old news, they’re considered classic. hahaha.. ok, over. but yea.

there’s only one word that can pretty much sum up my life right now: tiring. hahaha. i know. i’ve said it once,i’l say it again! i’m TAIYOOOD!! honestly, i don’t feel it most of the time. i actually like going around the room explaining to my students eventhough the speed is constant, the velocity is changing (circular motion). i feel immensely satisfied seeing them going from *toink* *toink, toink* to “ahhhhhh.. i geddit!!”  its afterwards that i feel drained. especially after teaching one particular class who does not wanna learn. more than once was i tempted to just not care. i mean, they’re the ones who’s going to fail. not me.  sapa suruh inda mau pay attention?  but… then i’d feel guilty. my job is to make them understand, no matter how boring. or maybe its just karma. i wasn’t exactly the perfect student myself.

i knew it was gonna come around and bite me in the ass..

more old news: my batch was called in last week for an interview regarding a more permanent job. i think because i knew the interview was almost the same as the one i did for my current job, i was not as nervous as i should be. i was focusing more on trying not to kusut. i actually had fever the day before. you know the kusut feeling? the one where everything just feels so wrong?? you don’t know what but you just know. everything is either too hot or too cold? and since you can’t do anything about it, you have this huge tendency to kusut/whine? ….yea. i was going through that. it was not fun. thankfully, the interview went well. Alhamdulillah.

other agenda that keeps reminding me that i’m getting older, is my friend, Mala, who got engaged last nite.  so,

CONGRATULATIONS TO

SITI NORMALA HAJI AWANG DAMIT & MD. SYAZWAN HAJI ABU BAKAR

who got engaged last night. :) May Allah bless you both and sampai ke jinjang pelamin. :D

there are pictures, but i cant seem to find ’em right now. heh. sorry. will most them when i have the time. gots to go now. have lessons to plan. :D

salaam, pujiah..

weekends.

February 25, 2008 at 12:58 pm (bored~, celebrations, family, frens, taiyod!)

last weekend has been one very tiring and busy. the very opposite if what the weekend before had been.

2 weekends ago:

  • woke up late. (noon-ish..?)
  • stayed in bed eventhough i was already awake.
  • went out to get my photos from mizi. (3pm)
  • decided to go to fundonuts. it has been receiving rave reviews. so i decided to check it out. me and eyan (lil sis) arrived around 3.45pm. and there was a line! a freakin long one!! at a freakin doughnut shop!! i was about to walk away when eyan said “what else do we have to do today?” …point taken. so we decided to stay in line and bitch about the service at the same time. everything was finally done and paid for about 2 hours later. yes, TWO hours. AAAANNDDD we bought $26 worth of doughnuts. after that long wait, you can bet your @$$ we’re gonna make it worth our money and time. anyway, we bought 2 boxes of these:

image000.jpg nyaman usulnya kan??? oh, and apparently, there was some drama going on. i was, apparently, oblivious to the whole thing. well, i caught snippets of it at the end but thats pretty much it. (man, i am in my own world..). so anyway, there’s this lady in front of eyan and me. all she sed was “aku mau 3 kutak.” (”i want 3 boxes”). the person in charge was a bit slow and maybe blank. then again, it was kinda hectic. but in her defense, there are two types of boxes (6’s & 12’s). and just because of that, lady customer called her “babal.” (”idiot”.) pms, much? sheesh.. dont you know, you’re ordering food from her ?? she could spit in ‘em lady!!  and as it turns out, she was waiting for one more doughnut but rather than giving it to lady customer, she gave it to us.. MWAHAHAHAHAHA.. oh, when she was finally done, she tired to walk out in a huff, all pissed off but she was called back sal she still owed then about $5. d’oh! *slaps forehead* (yan, good game.. good game.. )

  • then relaxed the rest of the day..

last weekend:

  • woke up around 8am. (mother wanted us to be early for the 11am second cousin’s wedding reception)
  • 10.30am: finally on the way to the mall. wedding reception was held @ Rizqun. (which explains the slightly less grumblings)
  • before going up to the ballroom, i had to help a dear uncle find parking space in the basement area. it was hilarious in a knocks-head-against-wall kinda way. i mean, i was trying to help him find the easiest (and nearest) space but ia mcm main tabak saja. hehehe.
  • i actually had fun until my uncles decided to bully on me. and my ‘gitau nene karang!’ attempt fell on deaf ears. :D
  • went home about 2pm. thot had time to freshen’ up but Surya (my bride friend for the next 2 weeks) requested us to come earlier. so dropped my mom and eyan off, then tarus pick up Bo.
  • stayed at Sur’s until 6.30pm. spent most of the time daydreaming of MY wedding.. :p

dscn2197-small.jpg we somehow showed up with the same colour theme. hehehe.

dscn2199-small.jpg Sur getting ready        dscn2202-small.jpg me with the bride to be :)

then went home, picked up eyan and drove her straight to the airport. paul’s came home from KL yesterday. but his flight was kinda delayed so i stayed until ….8.30pm?

  • finally around 10pm, i was home, clean and snoring :D

so yeaaa.. very tired.. oh, n this week pun mcm banyak events to go to.. the rest of Sur’s wedding ceremony.. my frineds are getting married lerrr… :s honestly, i’m 50-50 when it comes to marriage. i am at the stage where i can’t wait to build my life with B but also at the stage where i wanna enjoy my independence.. hmmmm.. alum jua ku beduit kan kawin wah… hheehehe. iski banar.. :p

neways, taiyod. taaaaaaa~

teach and shoot..

February 14, 2008 at 12:15 pm (frens, random, taiyod!)

i am soo freakin tired. i’ve been waking up at the break of dawn and hitting the pillow before midnight for the past month. i didn’t think it would be this tiring. i mean, i thought, it was something like get up, teach, rest when you’re not teaching and go home at 12.30pm. Yeah, right!! somehow, i managed to not include the fact that teachers also have to set up the papers, notes, homeworks. check the notes and homeworks. mark the notes and homeworks. lesson plans have to be prepared at least a week before. not to mention making the lesson as simple as possible so that your students can understand what the heck i’m talking about. understanding is far better than memorising.

….orite, getting out of hand. anyway, since working i rarely have time to hang out with my friends. so i was a tad iski when i met up with mizi and atul last night. Mizi wanted to try out his new studio so we had a photoshoot where i was the model. (woohooo~) my ‘next top model’ exprience was by far the most relaxed i have been since i started reliefing. it was also kinda hard to pose with a straight face with atul in the background, heckling. *roll eyes* i admit, there are times during the shoot i felt very prasan (wahey. i look goood..) but mostly i had fun. i made Mizi took a picture of me jumping. hehehe..

will post the photos when i get the chance. :D …suddenly, very iski.. hehe. in fact, i’m gonna go and message him now! :) , fauz.

edit: some of the photos.. :D

130208_025-2-small.jpg          130208_045-small.jpg          130208_058-small.jpg          130208_066-small.jpg          130208_120-small.jpg

130208_134-small.jpg          130208_139-small.jpg          130208_165-small.jpg

hehehehe.. i had fun being the photographer’s muse. :p btw, the photographer is none other than my good friend mizi. check out his website here if you like his photos. :D

books and movies

February 8, 2008 at 3:20 pm (bored~, random, things to ponder)

ok. name me your top 5 most romantic movies of all time. and by romantic, i mean the kind of movies where you always end up bawling your eyes out but still watch it over and over again. i was watching The Notebook when this thought entered my mind. then i asked atul. (she named a few then gave up halfway. hehheehe.)

anyways, after trying to think of my favourites, i realised that i can only come up with three as the ones that i really love: Ever After (a classic,no?), Just like heaven (*sappy sigh*) and  The Notebook. is that it?? i have watched many, many, many romantic films that made me cry and i can only come up with 3? huh. well, The Atonement  has potential but my little brother spoiled the ending for me. so i was already somewhat turned off at the beginning of the film (if you haven’t watch the movie/know the ending, watch it.) :)

realisation # 2: most of my favourite movies were originally books. no. wait. ALL were originally books. Ever After is the story of cinderella. …now i’m really curious how the movie version of PS: I Love You turned out. because i really love the book. or what are the chances that Julie Garwood’s or Judith McNaught’s books turning into a movies? :D

hehe. i’m a nuuurd..

so tell me. what’s your top 5? :D
